Pocket Zen World is a living miniature island that fits in your pocket. Its sky follows the clock on your iPhone — dawn, day, dusk and lantern-lit night — while the weather turns between clear, cloudy, rain and mist, through four seasons.

Everything responds to touch. Ripples spread across the pond and curious fish gather under a resting finger. Slow strokes rake deep grooves into the sand, and the pattern is still there the next day. Watering a plant leaves dew on its leaves; feeding the fish turns one of them into a companion that follows your finger.

Nineteen visitors — from Momo the cat to an owl on a tall stone — come and go according to the decorations you place, the weather, the hour and the season. You can watch from ready-made camera views, or walk the island yourself as a little gardener in a conical hat.

There are four gardens — Japan, Vietnam, Korea and China — a journal of 85 discoveries, breathing and focus sessions, sleep sounds with a timer, Siri and Control Center, festivals on their real lunar dates, a photo mode with a Moments album, Zen Mode, soundscapes generated on the device, Core Haptics and widgets. There are no ads, streaks, countdowns or energy, and no data is collected. Pocket Zen World is free to download; the Pocket Zen Pass is an optional one-time purchase.
